about

Andrew Shanley

Andrew Shanley walking a golf course Shanley wrote his first novel at age 22, which resulted in publishers sending back countless rejections. He was crushed, of course, but the work did, indirectly at least, get him launched on a career. Thinking he might be a writer, he found his way into the newspaper reporting business, where he honed his craft for a decade.

Then it was on to writing advertising copy, which is something he continues to do today, along with running his own ad agency and writing books in the wee hours of the morning.

Andrew’s nonfiction book, Fathers, Sons & Golf was published in both the US and Japan, and sold quite well.

His latest books include How to Love Golf, in which Andrew pays it forward to help others know the joys he’s experienced, and Match Play at Penny Whistle, a novel about overcoming our losses and deepest disappointments to become the person we’ve always wanted to be.

I’m going to give you a little advice. There’s a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball."
